At the bottom right of the screen in FrontPage's design view, note
the estimated download time of the active page at the specified
download speed. This is particularly important when you are
using photographs. This 47 KB photograph takes 25 seconds to
download on a 28.8 dial-up modem--if the modem is functioning
properly and if the telephone line doesn't have any problems.
(When the photo is deleted, this page's download time is 1 second.)
Although there are several ways to optimize the download speed of a
webpage (one without audio or video files), the most significant is
the reduction of the size of graphics files. This is achieved
with an image-editing program. Another option for reducing
download speed for a small number of files is
an
online service that optimizes files for you. |
