ALPHABETIZING THE START MENU

Do you have problems locating a program on the Start Menu?  If, like mine, your "mental search mechanism" is configured for an alphabetical listing, and if you have a lot of programs on your computer, you’re out of luck!  When new programs are installed, their shortcuts are typically listed at the bottom of the Programs menu, so with each new installation the list becomes a worse clutter of hard-to-find icons.

To alphabetize these items, open the Start Menu and select Programs.  Point your mouse to any item in the list.  Rightclick and select Sort by Name.  (Note that the folder shortcuts are grouped at the top of the list, and the program shortcuts at the bottom.)

If you want to customize the location of any item on the Start Menu, rightclick the item and drag and drop it to a new location.
