Three of the many ways to insert symbols:

(1)  Although some marks and symbols appear on the keyboard, in Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher many other symbols can be inserted with the INSERT | SYMBOL command.

(2)  A second way to locate useful symbols and characters, particularly to insert in Excel and Access, is to use Windows' Character Map.  (If it does not appear under ACCESSORIES | SYSTEM TOOLS, you will need to install it.)

(3)  Another way of accessing some symbols in Office programs is with the ALT key.  Hold down the ALT key and press the number.  When you release the ALT key, the mark will appear.  This list includes the most-used symbols.
